Get It Up was the first single to be released from The Time's first album The Time. It was released four weeks prior to the album, and marked the first release of any kind by The Time, and the first single release by another artist to involve Prince. The b-side, After Hi School, was also taken from the album The Time. Both the a-side and b-side were edits of the album tracks, though they were not labeled as such. Prince largely wrote and performed Get It Up, and he performed most instruments on After Hi School (which was written by Dez Dickerson), although his input on both tracks was uncredited. The single did not enter the US Billboard Pop Chart, but reached number 6 on the Billboard Soul Chart. Track listing 7" A. Get It Up (3:05) B.
