The Arms Of Orion was the third single to be released from Prince’s eleventh album Batman. It was released four months after the album, and received a release around the world, continuing the commercial tie-in with the Batman movie. The b-side, I Love U In Me, was previously-unreleased (unusually, Prince would later use the same track as the b-side of Insatiable). Like its predecessor Partyman, the CD single was available only as a 3" single; also like its predecessor, the single’s cover art was a variation of the well-known Batman logo. The CD single contained an unannounced .cdi file, which played a slideshow of unrelated pictures and lyrics from Alphaville’s 1989 song "Summer Rain" with The Arms Of Orion as a soundtrack when entered into a computer. This video had no input from Prince and should not be considered a promotional video, but an experiment by Warner Bros. into the technology that was available using CD singles, and was advanced for its time.
