The Belle Of St. Mark was the third and final single to be released from Sheila E.'s first album The Glamorous Life, released six months after the album. The single contained an edit and an extended version of the track, as well as a previously-unreleased track, Too Sexy, which had no input by Prince. The single was released in North America and Germany, and reached number 36 on the US Billboard Black Chart.

The single reached number 34 on the US Billboard Pop Chart, and number 68 on the Billboard Black Chart. It fared better in the UK, however, where it reached number 18 on the Gallup Top 40 Singles Chart.
