So What The Fuss is the twelfth track on Stevie Wonder’s 25th studio album A Time To Love, and, six months before the album’s release, So What The Fuss was released as the album’s first single. The full length "Album Version" (6:07) was edited by a minute for its eventual release on the album. The track features Prince on guitar. Prince did not have any other musical input on the song, although the song is mixed by his long-time engineer Femi Jiya, who is mentioned by name in the song. The track also features the reunion of the original four members of American female R&B group En Vogue for the first time in seven years. Later in 2005, some remixes of the track were also included on Remixes album included on the iTunes exclusive "digital box set" The Complete Stevie Wonder (which also included a pre-release of Wonder’s album A Time To Love, including the edited album version of the track).

While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that the track was recorded in late 2004 at Wonderland Studios in Los Angeles, California. It is not known if Prince’s guitar part was recorded at a separate point, or if En Vogue’s vocals were added separately.

Stevie Wonder has commented about the track: "So What The Fuss really came from just a lot of things that we know are happening in the world and in this country and just in society in general. If we live in a time where every nation is fighting around the world and we can’t all agree that peace is the way, then shame on us, because ultimately we will get what we’ve not paid attention to. If it matters to you, to me, to them, to us, then we’ll do something about. And if it doesn’t we won’t. So what the fuss?"
