Spoon (originally titled Am Happy?) is the fifth track (fourth song) on Chaka Khan's tenth solo studio album Come 2 My House, and, around the same time as the album's release, Spoon was available as a promo-only single. It was also included on the Come 2 My House promo sampler available at around the same time as the album's release. The song was written and produced by Chaka Khan, Howard McCrary & Robert D. Palmer; is believed to appear as a musician, but his exact contribution is unknown.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place between November 1997, and January 1998, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was included (under its original title Am Happy?) as the second track on a February 1998 configuration of Come 2 My House, before the tracklist was revised for release.
