Spoon (originally titled Am  Happy?) is the fifth track (fourth song) on Chaka Khan's tenth solo studio album Come 2 My House, and, around the same time as the album's release, Spoon was available as a promo-only single. It was also included on the Come 2 My House promo sampler available at around the same time as the album's release. The song was written and produced by Chaka Khan, Howard McCrary & Robert D. Palmer;  is believed to appear as a musician, but his exact contribution is unknown.
While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place between November, 1997, and January, 1998, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. It was included (under its original title Am Happy?) as the second track on a February, 1998 configuration of Come 2 My House, before the tracklist was revised for release.
