Stones is a track by The Golden Hippie made available on streaming music service Tidal as part of its Purple Pick of the Week series of "new tracks, exclusives, rarities and more from the vault, curated personally by Prince", (available on the same day that Hitnrun Phase One was released on CD and download). Two and a half months later, on 3 December 2015, Tidal opened a download store which included Stones among many other previously-streamed tracks by Prince (including Stare, Pretzelbodylogic Reloaded and If Eye Could Get Ur Attention along with the updated version of the album The Chocolate Invasion).
It’s unclear exactly what role Prince played in the track, but The Golden Hippie (a.k.a. Marissa Jack) posted on her Facebook and Twitter accounts that Prince was involved, and it is assumed that the track was written by him.

While specific recording dates are not known, it is assumed to have been recorded in 2014 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
The only other confirmed collaboration between Prince, The Golden Hippie and Joshua Welton was Art Official Cage, and it’s possible this track was recorded during the same set of sessions in 2014, but this is unconfirmed.
It is not known if the track is intended for inclusion on an album or other project in addition to its availability on Tidal.
