The Marrying Kind is the eighth track on Prince’s 28th studio album Musicology.
Initial recording dates are unknown, but the song was tracked in early 2003 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, USA with engineer Joe Lepinski. The song’s ending indicates that it was recorded in tandem with If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life, but engineer H.M. Buff has stated that he was involved in the latter in 1999.
Recording engineer L. Stu Young said that Prince recorded The Marrying Kind, If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life and On The Couch back-to-back at Metalworks Studios, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is not known however if this was additional work on the initial recording or a re-recording of the song.
