Gold is a Prince (as ) video released for broadcast and to promote the single. It was recorded at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota on 10 October 1995, together with a video for Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive! (And It Lives In Minneapolis) for use in the Love 4 One Another TV-special. Two slightly different edits of the video were created. The first contains only the performance (for music channels), while the one from Love 4 One Another film splices its female protagonist (Cory Dana as Nikki) within the crowd looking longingly at Prince while he performs. The video was premiered at (before) the show given on 12 November 1995 (a.m.) at Paisley Park and aired ten days later by BET.
