The Continental is a Prince and the New Power Generation video that was first aired as part of the Act I TV-special.

The performance by Prince and The NPG, was shot at the Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan during the Diamonds And Pearls Tour in early April 1992. Details are not known, but the shooting may have taken place on 5 April 1992 on a day-off between two shows (like the shooting of U Got The Look). The scene with an unidentified actress and Prince likely took place at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo, Japan also. It is not known if the part with Carmen Electra was shot around that time or later in the year.

The full 4:56 (album version with Carmen Electra) was aired on the Act I TV-special only in December 1992. During the song part of the song, Prince is seducing both an unidentified girl in his bedroom and Carmen Electra over the phone. An edit from the video was released on the 3 Chains O’ Gold home video with a completely different second part. After the main stage performance, the music ends abruptly. Alternate scenes of Prince and unidentified girl having sex in the bedroom are included interspersed footage of Mayte dancing wildly during an Arabic ceremony until she goes in a trance and faint (this part was most likely filmed in Egypt with Randee St. Nicholas in late 1991). At the end of both versions, Prince is seen thoughtful and visibly unwilling to pursue his sex affair with the unidentified girl, who leaves the room disappointed.
