Mad Sex is the second track on the New Power Generation’s third and final ’solo' album Newpower Soul. Around the time of the album’s release, it was included as the second track on a Brazilian promotional release of the album’s first single, The One (although incorrectly credited as "The One (Album Version)").
While specific recording dates are now known, basic tracking took place between mid-November and December 1997, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. On 20 February 1998, Love4OneAnother.com announced that Prince was deciding between Mad Sex, Newpower Soul and Push It Up as the first single, but it is not known if artwork or tracklists were compiled for these singles.
