Little is known about the track other than that it was offered to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel Bryant Gumbel] to use as the theme song for his new show in 1997. [[Prince]] appeared several times over the years on the TV-Show [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Today_(American_TV_program) Today] on NBC and gave his first ever live interview on television there, conducted by [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel Gumbel]  in 1996. [[Prince]] also made a humorous performance on the show on [[03 January 1997|3 January 1997]] dressed as [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel Gumbel] for his last appearance as host of the show after 15 years. 

His new prime time news-magazine, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel#Public_Eye_with_Bryant_Gumbel ''Public Eye With Bryant Gumbel''] started on CBS on October 1997. [[Prince]] recorded a theme song for this show but [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel Gumbel] didn’t like it and chose not to use it, although [[Prince]] offered him different versions: ''"After three tries I called it off. It was becoming embarrassing - a guy who can’t read music can’t tell Mozart, ‘No, this isn’t good.’ But I own three [[Prince]] songs that have never seen the light of day." ''

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant_Gumbel Gumbel] chose instead to use a theme composed by Patterson, Walz & Fox who also did music for other TV-shows.

It is not known if the three songs mentioned by Gumbel were three separate and entirely different tracks or if it is the same one with different arrangements.
