American Woman, a live cover version of the track by The Guess Who, was released as the seventh track on the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 VHS and DVD. The song is performed by Lenny Kravitz and Prince (as ). No audio-only version of this performance has been released.

The song was the title track of The Guess Who’ sixth album released in 1972, and as a single the same year. American Woman was later covered by Lenny Kravitz for the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me soundtrack and released as a single in 1999 (Kravitz won the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance award at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2000 with this song).

This track is not believed to have been recorded in the studio by Prince.
