The One (Intro) is an interlude performed live by Prince & The NPG. It is tentatively titled as such as it was first played serving as an intro segueing into The One in August 1998 on the New Power Soul Tour. Musically, it has little to do with the song The One and hardly qualified as a song. This piece uses a prominent loop of a track called Encounter (composed by Lisa Bloom Cohen and Serge Colbert) taken from the professional sample library "Scoring Tools Volume 1" released by East West in January 1998 and synth flute sound played over it. On the Hit N Run Tour in November 2000 Prince began using the music as an interlude with the lyrics of I Would Die 4 U recited over it, accumulating in saying words to the effect of 'Baby I’m a star... in the true sense of the word.' Additional Information See also Trivia Unreleased Songs The Encounter loop was used by many composers over the years as a bed for musical scores for films and documentaries (by Spanish composer Santi Vega on El Círculo Mágico for "Los Guardianes del Planeta" in 2002 for example). Since Encounter is from a professional sample library and Prince may not have been the first to use it, those tracks by other artists are not considered as covers of The One (Intro). References
