A Place In Heaven is an unreleased instrumental piece with the same title as a song recorded on 27 March, 1986, but has seemingly little to nothing to do with it other than it also being in a 3/4 time signature. It is unclear when Prince recorded the song, but it is likely to predate the song with lyrics bearing the same title. The almost 15 minute track has a meandering melody of mostly piano embellished with synthesizer and a simple drum track.
Prince surprisingly performed a 2 and a half minute rendition of it live at the first show of the Piano & A Microphone Tour in Melbourne Australia, seemingly in connection with the passing of Denise Matthews a.k.a. Vanity the day before.
