While specific recording dates are unknown, it was likely recorded at some point between early 2005 (when Prince first worked with Támar Davis) and early 2006, at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, or 3121 Antelo Rd. in Los Angeles, California. The song was the title track of Támar's first album, before it evolved into Milk And Honey.
