Sign O’ The Times was a 7" single only released as a covermount with the October 2020 edition of Rolling Stone magazine in Germany, released on September 24, 2020, to promote the Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition. The a-side was the remastered single edit, included on the "Promo Mixes & B-Sides" disc of the set, while the b-side, Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1), was taken from the "Vault Tracks part 1" disc.
The cover photo was a previously-unused picture by Jeff Katz from the original era. With new artwork and a different b-side from the original 1987 single release of Sign O’ The Times, this is not considered a re-release or variant of that single.
