  • About the song Can You Be My Friend (unconfirmed title) is a song written by Kip Blackshire. The song was played only once during a Prince concert; a one-off show at Paisley Park Studios on 4 September 1999 (a.m.). Although Prince actively participate in the live rendition, it is believed that he had no input in the studio version of the song, written and produced solely by Kip Blackshire. The song may have been intended for Kip Blackshire’s first album, but it was ultimately not included in his eponymous album released in 2004 nor his second album called The Eleventh Hour released in 2005.
