Chelsea Rodgers is the eighth track from Prince’s 32nd album Planet Earth, and three weeks after the album’s initial release (with the Mail on Sunday newspaper in the UK and Ireland), Chelsea Rodgers was available as a promotional single in the USA only.
While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place in 2006, most likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (although possibly at either 3121 at The Rio in Las Vegas, Nevada or Circle House Miami, Florida).
The song is inspired by and written about model and clothing designer Chelsea Rodgers. The website 3121.com mentioned sightings of her at Prince’s shows, and featured a hybrid symbol of Prince’s own symbol and the letters "CR" as the label for clothes designed by Chelsea Rodgers (see below).
