Esther is an unreleased song by Támar Davis, (co-)written, produced and performed by Prince. While specific recording dates are unknown, it was likely recorded at some point in 2005 (when Prince first worked with Támar Davis) at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, or 3121 Antelo Rd. in Los Angeles, California.
The song was allegedly inspired by the biblical figure Esther from 'The Book of Esther'. In the narrative, a drunk King Ahasuerus orders his wife, queen Vashti, to appear naked before him and his guests, to display her beauty. When she refuses to appear, he banishes her and seeks a new queen.
Esther, of Jewish descent, cousin of Mordecai, the Vizier of King Ahasuerus is taken to the palace where the king falls in love with her and makes her his Queen.
The song was considered for Milk And Honey or possibly its earlier incarnation Wild Child. however it did not appear on the final track list of the album that in itself remains unreleased as well.
Nothing else is known about the track, which remains unreleased.
