S.S.T. was released as a stand-alone single by Prince, with all proceeds donated to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
The title track, S.S.T. was initially released within 24 hours of the recording, on the NPG Music Club, while Brand New Orleans was available as streaming audio simultaneously. Two days later, both tracks were available for purchase along with the Prince-written track You Will Be Moved by Mavis Staples. Eight weeks later, the two Prince tracks were released as a CD single in the USA.
The single failed to chart the US Billboard Hot 100, only reaching number 111 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under The Hot 100 Chart (it was only eligible upon its wider release as a CD single).
