About The Song

The One (Intro) is a song performed live by Prince & The NPG. It is tentatively titled as such was it was first played serving as an intro to The One in August 1998 on the New Power Soul Tour. Musically it has little to do with The One. On the Hit N Run Tour in November 2000 Prince began using the music as an interlude with the lyrics of I Would Die 4 U recited over it, accumulating in saying words to the effect of 'Baby I'm a star... in the true sense of the word.'
