Yo Mister is the fourth track on Patti LaBelle’s second MCA Records album Be Yourself. Later in 1989, Yo Mister was released as the album’s second single, containing various remixes of the track. Following the single’s success, the track was also included on numerous Patti LaBelle compilations released over the years. Basic tracks were recorded on 11 November 1986 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (six days after the Camille album was completed). Patti LaBelle’s lead vocal overdubs were recorded on 21 May 1988 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (on the same day as lead vocal overdubs onto Love 89).
