Horny Toad was released as the b-side of the single Delirious, the fourth single to be released from Prince’s fifth album 1999, while in the UK, it was released as the b-side of the single Little Red Corvette, the album’s second single. In 1993, it was included as the fifth track on The B-Sides compilation (included as the third and final disc on The Hits / The B-Sides).

The song was recorded on 5 June 1982 (on the same day as Yah, You Know) at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
