Andorra is the second track on Eric Leeds’ first album Times Squared. It was written and performed by Prince, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer, Jr. and Sheila E. Basic tracking (as an untitled instrumental) took place on 30 July 1987, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (the day after The Sex Of It, during the same one-day session that produced Eleven, Fifteen, Ten, Ten And ½, and two other instrumentals later named Night Owl and Overnight, Every Night, and the day before Twelve and another instrumental later named Kenya). The track reuses a melody from the unreleased 1985 instrumental Madrid. In August and September 1989, Prince asked Eric Leeds to compile tracks from the vault for a third Madhouse album. When Leeds reworked and reconstructed the piece, he asked Prince to replay the piano part that was on the original 1987 version. Prince refused and suggested that he contact Ricky Peterson to add that missing piano part. This track was one of ten selected and, in keeping with previous Madhouse releases, tracks were given tentative numerical titles of 17 to 26 (the album would be titled 26) - this track was given the title of 17 as the first track on the album at the time. When Prince suggested the album should be released as a solo album by Eric Leeds, Leeds came up with titles for each track, in Spring 1990; this track became known as Andorra and the album became known as Times Squared. Musically, this track is entirely unrelated to the released Madhouse track 17, although both feature Eric Leeds and were intended as the first track of their respective Madhouse albums.
