Loose! is a Prince / video that was aired as part of the The Beautiful Experience TV-special. It was shot in sequence with Papa at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota or Glam Slam West, Los Angeles, California. Unlike the other videos from The Beautiful Experience which were shot in early 1994 specifically for this TV-special, Loose! and Papa come from another project. They were actually shot in June or July 1993 for another film about which little is known. Directed by Parris Patton, this mini-film starred Nona Gaye and Vanessa Marcil with scenes set in an underground club where Prince is the main attraction. The whole project was scrapped in favor of The Undertaker which stars Marcil only. It is not clear however if The Undertaker was a portion of this project, its continuation or a totally different one. Being shot in mid 1993, between the Act I and Act II tours, Loose! and Papa foreshadows 's post Act II tour band with only Michael B., Sonny T., Tommy Barbarella, Morris Hayes (who wears a chain-hat) and Mayte. It may be a hint that it was the full band for the planned Act III tour in Japan and Australia that never materialized, but this is purely speculative. The Loose! video is a performance of the song with Prince and Mayte acting and dancing wildly. Not hiding the lip-synching, Prince is sucking a lollipop while singing and plays guitar with his gun-microphone. The version of the song was slightly edited for Come (omitting a scream), released a year after the shooting. The video was not used as promotional tool for the album. Interestingly, the music in the video is the Techno version, while the Glam Slam Ulysses show (which debuted soon after the shooting) was a Rock version. Additional Information See Also Quotation & triva Loose! The Beautiful Experience The Undertaker Like in all the other videos on The Beautiful Experience, Nona Gaye is seen. Interestingly, in the storyline, Loose! follows the live performance of Shhh. After that song, Jan (Nona Gaye's character) falls asleep. A footage on her computer screen shows her getting ready to go out. She arrives at the club at the end of the performance of Loose! and watches Prince singing the next song. At the end of Papa, a message appears on Jan's computer screen saying "I know who you are", waking her up. This indicates that footage of Nona Gaye's presence in the club was not added later by edition for The Beautiful Experience but was indeed also a part of the aborted 1993 film.
