Trivia

  • This show was first hinted on via the official @3rdeyegirl twitter account when at 20:15 on 28 May it tweeted:

"ALERT!!! 3RDEYEGIRL: IN BRUSSELS ON BREAK AND THEIR TECHS R SCOUTING THE LOCAL CLUB SCENE 4 POSSIBLE HITNRUN ATTACK!"

It had fans going over every possible venue in Brussels to find out where a possible show would be. Late in the afternoon people actually started queuing at Viage (where Prince had played one-offs before in July and November 2010) and outside Botanique where in the evening Prince’s gear was seen being brought inside the venue.
Around a quarter to midnight however the venue tweeted: "Dear #prince fans, there will be no show #tonite @Botanique #bxl" followed shortly thereafter by tweets from (tour gopher) Trevor Guy: "Quiet night in Brussels. No show tonight. #PRINCE @3RDEYEGIRL @Botanique #belgianprincearmy #princearmy." And Hannah Welton-Ford re-tweeting the venue’s tweet. Then at half past midnight a tweet came from the @3rdeyegirl account with a picture of the queue outside Botanique captioned " APPROX.17 HOURS EARLY" Suggesting a 18:00 start time for a show on 30 May.
  • On May 30 confusion continued. For a while the venue’s website listed two show, at 18:00 and 23:00, but they were taken off-line again quickly. At 16:30 the @3rdeyegirl account then tweeted (thus only adding to the confusion):

"PRINCE AND 3RDEYEGIRL IN A ROOM THAT HOLDS 400 PEOPLE IS LIKE:"

The tweet was send out from that account again half an hour later but now with '!!!BOTANIQUE!!!' added.
Then At 7:15 confirmation finally came Prince was to play three shows at 19:00, 21:00 and 23;00, with tickets sold at the door. By then the first fans were already being let in for the first show with the ticket reading 20:00 as starting time.
  • Patrons for the first show got a green wristband.
  • Before the show started the same songs that were played before the Antwerp and Amsterdam show were played over the PA, in addition to Shut This Down.

Soundcheck Support Act(s)

  • I’m Yours, Take Me With U and Raspberry Beret were soundchecked in the afternoon, starting at 16:00, audible outside, even when by then the venue was still denying they had information about any gigs that night.
