Don’t Play Me is the second track on Prince’s 21st album The Truth (his fifth using the name ), but a year before the album’s release, the track was released as the b-side of The Truth, the album’s first and only single (available by mail-order only).
The track was the second to be have been recorded for the album, on 1 December 1996 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, directly following The Truth, in one and the same take.
