The Undertaker is a video of a studio jam of the so called 'power trio' of Prince (as ) (vocals and guitar), Michael B. (drums) and Sonny T. (bass).
Footage for the video was filmed on 14 June 1993 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. The original recording was also planned as a tentative album release, that was scrapped. A vague storyline (with Vanessa Marcil snooping around in Paisley Park Studios) was incorporated, resulting in the home video.
It was released on VHS in the UK and the rest of Europe and Laser Video format in Japan on the same day as The Sacrifice Of Victor home video.
The home video release was credited to Prince (instead of ) which in 1995 Prince went by and the album was going to be credited to.

- Poorgoo and The Undertaker from this video were released as audio files by the NPG Music Club.
- Test screenings of The Undertaker were held on 8 October 1993 and during the weekend of 29-31 October 1993 at the Minneapolis NPG Store. There was a $7.00 entrance fee. The version shown had somewhat more emphasis on the Vanessa Marcil story line and had a slightly different title card (The Undertaker - Jam Session Filmed Live). Afterwards attendees were asked to fill out a survey about the parts they liked and/or disliked. The last question on the survey was if they would be interested in purchasing the film should it become available on VHS.
- Another film about which little is known was shot around the same time. Directed by Parris Patton, this mini-film starred Nona Gaye and Vanessa Marcil with scenes set in an underground club where Prince is the main attraction. The whole project was scrapped in favor of The Undertaker which stars Marcil only. It is not clear however if The Undertaker was a portion of this project, its continuation or a totally different one.
