Living Single is the soundtrack album to the Fox TV series Living Single, starring Queen Latifah, which ran from 1993-1998. The album was released in September 1997, as the final season of the show began. It contained the song Pain, by Chaka Khan, written by Prince and N. Channison Berry and originally recorded in 1990.
The track was re-recorded without Prince's involvement between 1993 and 1995, and produced by David Gamson (for inclusion on Chaka Khan's planned tenth album Dare You To Love Me, which was postponed and finally canceled). The song was not available on any of Chaka Khan's own studio albums.
The album did not produce any singles, and did not chart.
This release marks the only appearance of artists Me'Shell Ndegéocello and Joshua Redman on a released Prince-related recording (although Me'Shell Ndegéocello worked with on a session which resulted in the track Emale in 1996).
