Target Practice is the first and only studio EP by the band Heroine December lead by Maya McClean, Nandy McClean. Heroine December has previously released a single (Weekend) in 2011. Maya McClean and Nandy McClean (as The Twinz) were dancers in Prince’s band between 2005 and 2008 and continued to work with him from time to time over the following years. Heroine December’s name was reportedly given by Prince.

The EP contains 7 songs. One of them, Balloon was co-written (or arranged) by Prince.

Sessions and compiling

The album was mainly recorded between 2012 and 2013 (studio unknown) with a planned release in December. Maya McClean (and most likely Nandy McClean) wrote the song Balloon and let Prince hear it. He suggested some chords and musical parts changes that were kept when the band recorded the track in studio.

Promotion

Balloon was released as a digital single on 14 February 2014, two months before the release of Target Practice followed by Yesterday in May.

Target Practice was released digitally worldwide and available on CD format at some Heroine December shows. The EP did not enter the charts.
