Amber Eyes is an unreleased track recorded in 1976 or 1977. A recording location is not known, but based on other tracks recorded during that time period, it is thought that recording took place at Moon Sound or Sound 80, both in Minneapolis, Minnesota , during sessions for Prince’s debut album For You.

Prince recorded the track Diamond Eyes in Summer 1976. It is possible that Amber Eyes is simply an update of that track, but it is being treated as a separate track unless information surfaces to contradict that.

Amber Eyes was listed as the tenth and final track on an early configuration of For You, but was replaced by I’m Yours as the album went through changes before its release. Amber Eyes remains unreleased. There are factors indicating that it is possible the song was only recorded by Prince himself in 1976 or 1977, and not re-recorded in at Record Plant in Sausalito, California.
