Bedtime Story is the eighth and final track on Sheila E.'s second album Romance 1600, and, two weeks before the album's release, Bedtime Story was released as the album's second single. In 1986, the track was included as the b-side of a Japan-only release of Love On A Blue Train, the first single from Sheila E.'s third album Sheila E.
Initial tracking took place on 5-6 December 1984 at Master Sound, Cleveland, OH, USA (along with Dear Michaelangelo, Fish Fries, Small Grey Monkey and Toy Box), while in Cleveland for two dates on the Purple Rain Tour.
