House Of Brick (Brick House), a cover version of the Commodores' song Brick House (from their 1977 album Commodores, also released as a single) is the sixth track on Mayte's first and only album Child Of The Sun. A few months after the album's release, House Of Brick (Brick House) was available as a promo single in Germany only. The song was written by William King, Thomas McClary, Walter Orange, Lionel Richie, Milan Williams and Ronald La Pread (as Brick House), and produced by Prince (although no production credit is given).
While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place in 1993 or 1994, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. It was included, in a slightly different mix than released (including an extra keyboard part and with additional lyrics), as the sixth track on a 5 May, 1995 configuration of Child Of The Sun, where it remained for release, although it was worked on further in Summer 1995 before release, where an opening sample from the 1985 movie Back To The Future, spoken by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly (in the movie, McFly is introducing an "oldie" before playing Johnny B. Goode, which was played live regularly by Prince from 2006-7). It is not known if the track was included on Mayte's album Scorpio, which included some tracks from Child Of The Sun.
