Holla & Shout is the first track on Holla & Shout, a promo-only single by Támar Davis, available in Summer 2006 and intended to promote the album Milk & Honey. The song was written and produced by Prince and Támar Davis.
Exact recording dates are unknown, but it was likely recorded at some point between early 2005 (when Prince first worked with Támar Davis) and early 2006, at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, or 3121 Antelo Rd. in Los Angeles, California. It was included on Támar’s first album, titled Beautiful, Loved & Blessed; it was included as the fourth track when the album was later renamed Milk & Honey, but the album remains unreleased.
The repeated drum pattern heard throughout the song was also used for Love.
