I Pledge Allegiance To Your Love is a track recorded at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota on 1 October 1991 (the day after Letter 4 Miles, the same day as the release of Prince and the New Power Generation’s album Diamonds And Pearls and the recording of Do U Wanna Rock?, and Sweet Baby, and two days before recording The Thunder Ballet). The track was at one point considered for the album, yet not included on any known configuration.


I Pledge Allegiance To Your Love was released in October 2023 as the ninth track of Vault Tracks part 3, one of the discs with previously unreleased tracks included with the Diamonds And Pearls Super Deluxe Edition. The song was mixed by Chris James in 2022 for use on that collection.

  • The spelling of the title for the release comes from the Paisley Park work order which lists this song as I Pledge Allegiance To Your Love without using Prince’s usual shorthand spelling.
  • Other than the similarity in name, I Pledge Allegiance To Your Love is not related musically or lyrically to the track Allegiance (originally recorded in 1988) initially offered to Nia Peeples for her planned second album, and ultimattely released by her then-husband Howard Hewett in 1992.
