Kept Woman is the eighth track on Bria Valente’s first and only studio album Elixer. Although the song is credited as being written by Bria Valente and Prince (along with the rest of the album), the song dates from before Bria Valente started working with Prince, and was written only by him. The song was produced and largely performed by Bria Valente and Prince.
Exact recording dates are unknown, but the track was initially recorded by Támar Davis, indicating that intitial tracking took place at some point between early 2005 (when Prince previously worked with Támar Davis) and early 2006, when it was included on Támar’s first album, then titled Beautiful, Loved & Blessed; it was included as the fifth track when the album was later renamed Milk & Honey. Prince started working with Bria Valente in late 2006, so her recording of the track may have been recorded anytime between late 2006 and early 2009 at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota or Circle House in Miami, Florida, but no information has been verified.
