Little Rock (initially recorded as Drawers and later, when considered for a third Madhouse album also know as 21) is the sixth track on Eric Leeds’ first album Times Squared (on the CD release, fifth track on other formats), and, a few months after the album’s release, Little Rock was available as the album’s second promotional release in the USA.
Although production for the track is officially credited to Eric Leeds, the track was recorded with Prince before any solo project by Eric Leeds was in the works, and Prince acted as the producer in such sessions, so production credit is given to both artists in this entry.
Basic tracking took place on 28 May 1985 as Drawers at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California.
In August 1989, Prince asked Eric Leeds to compile tracks from the vault for a third Madhouse album. This track was one of ten selected, and in keeping with previous Madhouse releases tracks were given tentative numerical titles of 17 to 26 (the album would be titled 26) - this track was given the title of 21 as the fifth track on the album at the time.
When Prince suggested the album should be released as a solo album by Eric Leeds, Leeds came up with titles for each track, in Spring 1990; this track became known as Little Rock and the album became known as Times Squared. This title was given after Pharoah Sanders native town, Little Rock (Pharoah Sanders is one of Eric Leeds’ favourite musicians).
