Magnificent was released as a "virtual b-side" to Musicology, the first single from Prince’s 28th album Musicology. The single itself did not receive a retail or download release in North America. In Europe Musicology received a retail release, but it did not feature Magnificent as a b-side.
On 26 April 2024, three weeks after the digital reissue of virtual b-side United States Of Division, Magnificent was re-released as a stand alone digital track by Prince’s estate as part of the 20th anniversary campaign for the Musicology album.
Magnificent was recorded in May 2003, most likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
