Mr. Nelson is the ninth track on Prince’s 38th album Hitnrun Phase One. It contains significant components of the track Clouds, in which Lianne La Havas repeats the name "Mr. Nelson" (Prince’s full name is Prince Rogers Nelson), but the track is distinct enough to be considered a track in its own right rather than a remix, and as such it receives its own page here.
While specific recording dates are not known, Clouds was first recorded in Spring or Summer 2014, and it is assumed that Mr. Nelson was recorded later in 2014 or early 2015, most likely at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It was debuted along with Ain’t About 2 Stop and This Could B Us (Hitnrun Phase One version) during a DJ set at Paisley Park Studios on 19 April 2015.
