Muhammed Ali is an unreleased song recorded in 1996 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during sessions for the Emancipation album). Eric Leeds added saxophone overdubs on 6 August, 1996, also at Paisley Park Studios (on the same day as recording saxophone overdubs on Moneyappolis). The song is believed to have been intended for Emancipation, but was not included on any known configurations. The track remains unreleased.
The track is named after American former boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion Muhammed Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.), but the lyrical content of the track (if any) is unknown. Prince struck up a friendship with Muhammed Ali around this time, however, and on 24 June, 1997, Prince and Muhammed Ali (described by Prince as his "idol") held a joint press conference announcing a World Healing Honors concert planned for 9 October, 1997, which would feature several artists including Prince (as ), Celine Dion and Lenny Kravitz, to raise money for organizations promoting religious and cultural tolerance. The concert was planned to be a TV broadcast, with a CD and home video to follow, but the show was later canceled.
