The track was written by Emeli Sandé, Hugo Chegwin and Harry Craze. The version streamed was a rehearsal recorded in mid-June, 2013, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, with lead vocals by Elisa Dease and Liv Warfield, with lead guitar by Prince. Interestingly, the lyrics differ slightly from the original version and even contain an additional verse (it is unknown however if this additional verse comes from an other unidentified song or if it was written specifically for this cover). The rehearsal segues directly into a rehearsal of Musicology.
No studio version by Prince of Next To Me is believed to exist.
