Prettyman is the 18th and final track (15th song) on Prince's 23rd album Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (his sixth using the name ), included as a hidden bonus track (although credits are included in the booklet). An extended version (perhaps simply the original version before editing) was included as the 14th and final track on the 2001 companion album Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic, also as a hidden bonus track.
Basic tracking dates are unknown, but the track was believed to have been recorded in Spring 1999 during sessions for the album; Maceo Parker added his saxophone part on 3 June 1999 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same session that Ani DiFranco recorded a guitar part for Love U, But Don't Trust U Anymore). This song is notable for containing Maceo Parker's first appearance on a Prince-related recording. He would later join Prince's band and record with him regularly.
