Paradigm was a single by George Clinton sold only at his live shows, beginning 12 July 2001 at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The single, sold only in CD-R format with no artwork, contained the track Paradigm, co-written and co-produced by , who also appears as a singer and musician on the track (credited as such as it was recorded while Prince used that name).
While working on a guest appearance on a track for Dutch funk band OctavePussY on a day off from touring, George Clinton showed the producers a cd which featured Paradigm. They told him that fans would definitely buy the song if he'd make it available. So he asked them to produce an unknown number of CD-Rs containing the track to sell at next evening's Paradiso show.
A few weeks later another small run of CD-Rs was produced to be sold at the George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars Montreux Jazz 2001 performance. The track later appeared on the Sneak Peek EP and on the album How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent?.
Around the time of the album’s release, a promotional single of Paradigm was also available in France, containing an edit of the track not available elsewhere (credited to George Clinton featuring "Prince", rather than " "). This promotional release is listed here also.
The 2001 CD-R release was not eligible for the charts, and the 2005 French promotional release did not enter the charts.
