Raspberry Beret was the first single (second in most territories) to be released from Prince's eighth album Around The World In A Day, the second album to be credited to Prince and the Revolution. It was Prince's first single on his own Paisley Park Records label.
The single was released four weeks after the album's release. The single included a non-album track b-side, She's Always In My Hair as well as extended versions ("New Mix") of both Raspberry Beret and She's Always In My Hair. Paisley Park was released concurrently in the UK (with She's Always In My Hair as the b-side), so when Raspberry Beret was released there, Hello was used as the b-side instead.
The single reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and number 3 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles Chart, marking the album's most successful single.
