Stand Back was the first single to be released from Stevie Nicks' second solo album The Wild Heart. It was released three weeks prior to the album.
The song Stand Back features Prince on keyboards (uncredited), and he is given co-writing credit as the keyboard part was inspired by his own song Little Red Corvette, but Prince did not have any direct writing input into this song.
The single became Stevie Nicks' biggest solo hit to date, reaching number 5 on the US Billboard Pop Chart and number 2 on the Top Rock Tracks chart.
In 2007, the single was re-issued, containing several dance remixes, to promote Nicks' compilation album Crystal Visions – The Very Best of Stevie Nicks. It reached number 2 on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart.
