The Song Of The Heart was the first and only promotional single to be released from Happy Feet, the soundtrack album to the 2006 Warner Bros. animated movie Happy Feet. It was available three weeks after the album, in Japan only. The single contained two edits of the song which were not available elsewhere.
The single did not enter the charts.
Of note is that this is the first Prince single to be released by Warner Bros. since It’s About That Walk in 1999.
The song was awarded a Golden Globe Award in the category of "Best Original Song - Motion Picture" at the HFPA 64th Golden Globes Awards on 15 January 2007. It’s competitors in the category were: Never Gonna Break My Faith by Bryan Adams, Eliot Kennedy and Andrea Remanda (from Bobby, 2006); Listen by Scott Cutler, Beyoncé Knowles, Henry Krieger and Anne Preven (from Dreamgirls, 2006); Try Not To Rememberby Sheryl Crow (from Home Of The Brave, 2006); and A Father’s Way by Seal and Christopher Bruce (from The Pursuit Of Happyness, 2006). The award marks Prince’s only Golden Globe Award to date, though he also appeared as a presenter for the same award in 2015.
