Six And ½ is the b-side of Madhouse's single 6, the first and only single from their first album 8. Six And ½ was written by Eric Leeds (credited to Madhouse) and produced by Prince (also credited to Madhouse).
Basic tracking for this song took place on 8 October 1986 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California during post-production work for the album 8 (the day after disbanding The Revolution and recording Telepathy and three days before Violet Blue). At this point the track was given the title Nine, not to be confused with a different song Nine than was later released on Madhouse’s second album 16). The title-change was made after the track was assigned as the b-side for the single 6, therefor other than the similarity in numbering and in music style, Six And ½ is not related musically to Six.
The track is notable for being the only Madhouse track to include trumpet from Atlanta Bliss, and the only Madhouse track to be written entirely by Eric Leeds.
