Susannah’s Blues is an unreleased instrumental track initially recorded during a soundcheck session on 25 August 1986 at Le Zénith, Paris, France, hours before the Parade Tour show there (along with recordings of Strange Relationship, a cover version of The Temptations’ I Can’t Get Next To You and a first run-through of It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, which was then recorded live at the show). Prince and the Revolution had performed the track during a show the previous night, 24 August 1986, New Morning, Paris, France. No studio version is known to exist. The track contains a five-note motif played initially by Prince before being played by horns also. The track remains unreleased.
The track is named after Susannah Melvoin.
