T.R.O.U.B.L.E is the fifth track on Rosie Gaines’ compilation Essential Rosie. Prince’s involvement was uncertain at the time, but Prince recorded this song (as Trouble) on 24 May 1991 at Larrabee Sound Studios, North Hollywood, California. It was rerecorded on 13 August 1992 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on the same day as a re-recording of I Want U.

It is not known if, but likely that the song was intended for the planned Concrete Jungle album. A 1:15 sample of a remix of the track (as Trouble (Never Give Up)) was included in 2000 as the fifth track on the Man‘O’War (Remix) NPG Records Sampler unreleased cassette (intended for promotional use only).

Prince’s version (as Trouble) was released in October 2023 as the fourth track of Vault Tracks part 3, one of the discs with previously unreleased tracks included with the Diamonds And Pearls Super Deluxe Edition. The song was mixed by Chris James in 2022 for use on that collection.
